Great Place to Work ® Canada has identified the best 15 organizations that excel in their recruitment and retention strategies for part-time employees.
According to Statistics Canada, most of last year’s job growth is due to an increase in part-time positions. In 2016 Canada added 153,700 net new part-time jobs and 60,400 full-time jobs – a marked shift from previous years where the bulk of job growth was due to full-time positions.
At the end of 2016, 19.2% of Canadians were employed part-time. Just a quarter of those were doing so because they could not find full-time employment; the other three quarters were working part-time by choice.
With part-time employment increasingly becoming the “new norm”, Great Place to Work ® Canada researched and produced a list of the best 15 organizations for part-time employees. The list is based on evaluation of all Great Place to Work–Certified™ organizations in Canada with a minimum of 50 part-time employees that have been surveyed in the past 12 months; the best 15 were identified from the average score of their Trust Index © survey completed by their employees.
This is the first in a series of new Best Workplaces in Canada lists that Great Place to Work® is producing to recognize and celebrate an increased number of organizations that are committed to creating good workplace culture.
Best Workplaces in Canada lists to be released in the near future will focus on Women, Camaraderie and Technology.
